The Perfect Lasagne

Posted by Melissa · Leave a Comment

One of the easiest comfort foods to make is lasagne. This comfort dish is known throughout Europe, the United Kingdom, and the United States. There are as many recipes for this simple dish as there are cooks. One might use a beef and pork mince, while another may use chicken. Vegetarians use eggplant and tofu, with a vegetable mince.

From home made to five star restaurants, most of the recipes have one thing in common, and that is a tomato- based mixture. Most of the pasta used is made from the same recipe. As a result, many different recipes have similar taste and texture.

Some recipes have béchamel sauce while others have elaborate cheese sauces to top the mince mixture. Every dish is topped with one or more cheeses, toasted to a golden brown after the dish has cooked through in the oven.

By using Heinz tomato ketchup as the secret ingredient, the dish will have a distinctive flavor all its own. Use the same spices as any other recipe and the entire family will love the difference. The sugar and spices in the ketchup make the lasagne a lively dish everyone will want regularly, not just for special occasions.

Open a recipe book and find the family’s favorite. Substitute Heinz tomato ketchup for the tomato sauce called for in the recipe. Everyone will notice the difference. No one will accept their lasagne from the frozen foods at the grocery; they will all want fresh lasagne made with the secret ingredient.

Try using different meats or vegetables the next time you make lasagne. Try different sauces and spices to liven up the dish. Find different pasta recipes and substitute homemade fresh pasta for the processed kind from the grocery. Continue to use the secret ingredient- Heinz tomato ketchup. No two dishes will taste exactly alike, but everyone will eat heartily and compliment the cook.
